Team Furio Wins Worlds 2019!!!
Team Furio’s Keith Whittemore, Shelby Milne, Willem Van Waay, Mark Rodgers, and Brian Thomas won the 2019 Worlds in convincing fashion. Besting 78 other teams in all conditions in Miami, the team averaged 5.5 points/race to dominate a fleet that included five past world champions. Mark Rodgers, Steve Travis, Brian Thomas and myself (Harry Dursch). Got in a total of 8 races all on an easterly that came and went throughout the weekend. This was their thermal that dominated the more prevalent and expected SWesterly that never showed. Stuart Archer and his son brought over Challenger for the event. Team Furio travelled to Cannigione in northern Sardinia for the 2012 Italian J24 National Championship and the 2012 J24 European Championship. Cannigione is the same location that held the 2008 J24 Worlds, so having sailed there before, we felt that we had a good start on other teams that would be competing there for the first time.
