The Seattle J-24 Fleet 26 is part of District 19 (Northwest Region) of the United States J-24 Class Association. We are based on Lake Washington in Seattle at the Corinthian Yacht Club at Leschi.

At the beginning of each season a number of local week night and weekend events hosted by Corinthian Yacht Club, Seattle, WA are selected as part of the J24 Racing Calendar. In addition, the fleet members decide on other party and social events throughout the year.

Races are scored by Corinthian Yacht Club and trophies are handed out at the end of the year, for Lake Over All Championship, Fleet 26 Champ, Series Championships and the Pacific Northwest Cup.

The fleet is has a certified US J24 Class Measurer to weigh and measure your boat for International Class Certification. Mail to: Hans Spiller

If you are a J-24 owner, or would like to become one, and/or are interested in getting involved in the Seattle J-24 Fleet 26, please contact our Fleet Co-Captains.

If you are looking to crew on our regular Tuesday Night Racing Series (starting in April each year, and ending in late September or early October), come down the Leschi club house on Tuesday nights between 4:30-5:00PM to “walk the docks”. Or email our fleet at seattle@j24fleet.com with your contact information, availability and experience.

To subscribe to our list, follow the directions here.

The First Start is at 6:00pm on Tuesday Nights and of the 30+ boats in the fleet, someone is always looking for crew!

Membership can be broken down into 3 main areas: Fleet, Class, and Club Membership.

Fleet Membership is $30 per race season. Dues are paid to the local fleet treasurer and are used for social events, promoting the fleet, and communication. To pay your dues for this season, make your checks payable to: J24 Fleet 26. Mail to: Harry Dursch 5459 Pleasure Pt Ln SE, Bellevue, WA 98006. ph:425-747-4065

NOTE: If you paid the $150 dues that were to help finance our hosting of the 2005 J/24 Nationals, you are not responsible for paying 2006 dues as this fee included dues for both 2005 and 2006 seasons.

Class Membership is $60 for Skippers or Helmsman, and $25 for Crew. Skipper/Helmsman membership is required in order to compete in certain qualifying regattas. Crew membership is not required, but does help the US National Class gain more votes for holding the J24 Worlds in the US and provides an opportunity for more local boats to participate when the event is held in the US.

Club Membership varies on initiation and annual dues, but is required after the 1st year of racing. J24 Skippers wishing to race on Tuesday nights, must belong to either Corinthian Yacht Club, or Seattle Yacht Club, after their 1st year of racing. Since the Tuesday night races are sponsored by Corinthian Yacht Club, discounts on races and race packages are available to it’s members. Seattle Yacht Club members will pay slightly higher fees (guest rates) for the Tuesday nights or other Corinthian Yacht Club sponsored races.

We all try to sail by the rules, but incidents do happen on the water. The full protest process is time consuming and many sailors chose to ignore fouls which really should result in a penalty of some sort. So we've established an informal protest arbitration process, which is really just a mini protest hearing. So, if you're involved in a foul:
    1. If you fouled someone, do your spins. A 720 degree turn exonerates you from anything that did not cause damage, but you must do them immediately.
    2. if you realize, too late for spins, that you've fouled someone, tell the race committee that you wish to take a 40% scoring penalty. You can do this any time, even days later.
    3. if you were fouled, you may choose to initiate the arbitration process in the clubhouse. The process is described here. The current arbitration officers are Harry Brown and Brad Miller.
    4. if all else fails, file a formal protest. This is onerous and time consuming and tends to result in DSQs, but sometimes it's the only way to get resolution.
